Abstract
The presentation first talks about its objectives and then moves onto some simple errors that can be made while constructing a building. It will then cover the types of errors followed by the classification and causes of these errors before moving onto the failures and their various types. It will also discuss the different classifications of these failures covering points like lateral deformation and spreading, estimation of lateral deformation and destruction caused by earthquakes before moving onto geomorphologic changes, foundation failure, masonry failures, structural and surface cracks caused by vegetation close to the building before moving onto the various aspects like weather proofing and stone work done by the masons before it goes onto cover remedial measures. It will then discuss the material used such as the concrete and how it must be mixed and the shrinking of plastics used. It will then move to cover the plumbing, heating, water supply, maintenance of plumbing and water supply and the drainage of the building before discussing the swear systems and their upkeep concluding with the various things that can be used in order to preserve the good health of a building and making it last for a longer time.
