Abstract
The phenomenon of sub-synchronous resonance (SSR) is very important in alternating current EHV series compensated power system. In view of the development of high rating turbo alternator and highly series compensated EHV transmission systems, the above phenomenon and its associated problems need careful design considerations [1]. sub-synchronous resonance is an electric power system condition where the electrical network exchanges energy with a turbine generator at one or more of the natural frequencies of the combined system below the synchronous frequency of the system torque in shafts of currents may also appear lower voltage circuits and may cause similar stresses on generator auxiliary motor as well as noticeable light flicker near the generating station [2, 3].
