Abstract

The modern 3G networks developed over a period of time have grown and their capacities multi fold and furthermore are going from the traditional circuit switching to the packet switching. Both these factor have given rise to a totally new concept of having a wide band codec that would have a voice frequency band almost twice that of the conventional narrow band codec. These wide band codec would enable telephony services with true, natural voice quality. With the evolution of wireless communication systems, a whole new set of applications like music player, game console, mobile internet; mobile TV, instant messaging etc. too have evolved and have become popular among mobile users.
