Abstract

A computer electronic memory allows it to remember how to function. There are two parts of computer memory, namely RAM (random access memory) and ROM (read only memory). The RAM stores the important programs such as the operating system and ROM stores other user data which can be retrieved and changed whenever needed. Holography storage has always had the potential for vast capacity and high data rates. The recent developments in the technology have made this vision a reality. These technical developments are just happening at the right time when there is high demand for fast and vast storage devices. Unlike conventional storage devices holographic devices allow the data to be stores throughout the medium. This volumetric approach has significantly reduced the cost and time of storage. The holographic storage devices not only provide solution to the vast storage capacity needed but are also a solution to quick retrieval of recorded data.
