Abstract
The topic I wish to know more about is the black Panther party's acts of empowerment in the black community and what led the party to its demise. The emergence of the black Panther party began some 40 plus years ago, which makes it a part of the post-Civil Rights era, pertaining to contemporary black America. Contributions of the black Panther party that created empowerment in black communities influenced present day community programs in the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean.
For many Americans the mere mention of the black Panther party invokes terror, passion, and race politics of the 1960s, during the time of the Civil Rights Movement. The Civil Rights Movement is known for the works of Dr. Martin Luther King and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). With the guidance of Dr. King, the Civil Rights Movement was focused on nonviolence and peace.
