Abstract
Generating images in computer with realistic look as actual scene requires application of illumination model and shading model. for this, the behavior and perception of visible light must be understood and properly modeled. Tremendous increases in computing power have made it possible to promote the search for increasingly accurate illumination models. Future computing platforms promise a continuance of research effort into modeling techniques providing even greater image realism. This paper presents a technical-level description of illumination model development. Included are various illumination models like ambient light, diffuse reflection and specular reflection which produces attractive and useful results with minimal computation. Various shading model like Flat shading, Gouraud shading and Phong shading are also discussed.
Keywords: Reflection, Light Source, illumination Model, Shading Model.
