Presentation of the Arkéa group and the alliance of three banking federations
The Arkea group was born in 2002 with the alliance of the three federations of Credit Mutuel, Credit Mutuel de Bretagne, Credit Mutuel Sud Ouest and Credit Mutuel Massif Central. This group is both mutual and cooperative. Composed of 2.8 million members and customers, the Group employs nearly 7200 employees in the three federations.
Credit Mutuel was born in the last century in Alsace, at the instigation of Frederick William Raiffesen. In 1882 the first fund was created. This fund was established in Alsace. The growth has been rapid since 1892 and there are already 127 cases.
The order of 16 October 1958 stated that the existence of the Credit Mutuel is dedicated and the local branches have legal status. The Confederation of Credit Mutuel was entrusted with a role of monitoring, inspection and representation in the government. In 1966, all regional federations joined the National Confederation.
