Abstract
Journalists write feature stories for travel magazines to inform their audience of different vacation locations and to give them tips and advice on what activities to explore while on holiday. The main goal of journalists is to sell magazines by creating colorful and exciting descriptions of different destinations that entice readers to buy the magazine. Journalists writing for travel magazines have particular contextual constraints that must be observed to produce a successful article. Journalists need to write to a specific audience, which varies depending on the vacation destination described. It is beneficial if they also limit the length of the article to five to six pages (including illustrations); include photographs, illustrations, and graphics; and employ the use of local jargon in their article. By conforming to these constraints, travel magazine journalists are able to sell the idea of a dream vacation to the audience and in turn sell their magazine.
